Creamy and Delicious Kheer Recipe to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth!
Kheer is a traditional Indian dessert that is made on special occasions and festivals. It is a rice pudding that is sweet, creamy and aromatic. With this recipe, you can make kheer at home with just a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 1 litre milk
- 1/2 cup basmati rice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
Instructions:
- Rinse the rice in water and soak it in enough water for 30 minutes.
- Bring the milk to a boil on medium heat in a heavy-bottomed pan. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the boiling milk. Cook on medium heat until the rice is soft and the milk has thickened. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking.
- Add sugar, cardamom powder and saffron to the milk-rice mixture. Mix well.
- Cook for another 10-15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
- Turn off the heat and let the kheer cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped nuts and serve chilled or at room temperature.
