Chilli potato is a delicious Indo-Chinese dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is a popular street food that is loved by people of all ages. With this recipe, you can make restaurant-style chilli potato at home with ease.
Ingredients:
- 4 medium-sized potatoes
- 2 tbsp corn flour
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2-3 green chillies, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 2 tbsp water
- Spring onion greens for garnishing
Instructions:
- Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into long, thin strips.
- In a bowl, mix corn flour, all-purpose flour, and salt. Add enough water to make a thick batter.
- Dip the potato strips in the batter, coating them well.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the potato strips until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the pan and keep them aside.
- In a separate pan, heat 2 tbsp oil. Add chopped onions and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Add chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies, and green bell pepper to the pan. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add tomato ketchup, red chilli powder, soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar to the pan. Mix well.
- Mix corn flour and water in a small bowl to make a slurry.
- Add the slurry to the pan and mix well. Let the sauce cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the fried potato strips to the pan and mix well so that the sauce coats the potatoes evenly.
- Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
