Microwave Tandoori Chicken Recipe: Perfect for Busy Weeknights
Tandoori chicken is a popular Indian dish that is usually cooked in a traditional clay oven called a tandoor. However, you can still enjoy the same authentic taste of tandoori chicken by cooking it in a microwave. Here's how to make it:
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 1/4 cup yoghurt
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil for brushing
Instructions:
- Wash the chicken drumsticks and make a few deep cuts on each drumstick with a knife.
- In a mixing bowl, add yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
- Add the chicken drumsticks to the mixture and coat them well with the marinade. Cover the bowl with a lid or cling wrap and let it marinate for at least 2-3 hours in the refrigerator.
- After marination, take the chicken drumsticks out of the refrigerator and bring them to room temperature.
- Preheat your microwave on convection mode at 200°C for 10 minutes.
- Place the chicken drumsticks on a microwave-safe plate and brush them with oil.
- Place the plate in the microwave and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and turns golden brown on both sides.
- Once done, remove the plate from the microwave and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or your favourite sauce.
Note:
You can also grill the chicken drumsticks on a barbecue or in an oven for a smoky flavour.
