Microwave Tandoori Chicken Recipe: Perfect for Busy Weeknights

Tandoori chicken is a popular Indian dish that is usually cooked in a traditional clay oven called a tandoor. However, you can still enjoy the same authentic taste of tandoori chicken by cooking it in a microwave. Here's how to make it:

Tandoori Chicken With Mint Chutney

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/4 cup yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for brushing

Instructions:

  1. Wash the chicken drumsticks and make a few deep cuts on each drumstick with a knife.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  3. Add the chicken drumsticks to the mixture and coat them well with the marinade. Cover the bowl with a lid or cling wrap and let it marinate for at least 2-3 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. After marination, take the chicken drumsticks out of the refrigerator and bring them to room temperature.
  5. Preheat your microwave on convection mode at 200°C for 10 minutes.
  6. Place the chicken drumsticks on a microwave-safe plate and brush them with oil.
  7. Place the plate in the microwave and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and turns golden brown on both sides.
  8. Once done, remove the plate from the microwave and let it cool for a few minutes.
  9. Serve hot with mint chutney or your favourite sauce.
Enjoy your delicious and easy-to-make Tandoori Chicken cooked in a microwave!

Note:

You can also grill the chicken drumsticks on a barbecue or in an oven for a smoky flavour.
