Ingredients:

- Rinse the basmati rice in water and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep the rice aside.
- Heat oil or ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add cumin seeds, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and cloves to the hot oil and let them splutter for a few seconds.
- Add thinly sliced onions to the pan and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chillies to the pan and sauté for a minute.
- Add green peas to the pan and mix well.
- Add the soaked basmati rice to the pan and mix well with the peas and spices.
- Add 2 cups of water to the pan and stir everything together.
- Add salt to taste and mix well.
