Tandoori Aloo Recipe: A Mouthwatering Appetizer
Tandoori Aloo is a popular Indian appetizer that's perfect for parties or as a snack. It's a flavorful and spicy dish made with potatoes that are marinated in a mixture of yoghurt and spices, and then grilled in a tandoor or oven. Here's an easy recipe for Tandoori Aloo that you can make at home.
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 medium-sized potatoes
- 1 cup plain yoghurt
- 2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Boil the potatoes until they are cooked through, but still firm. Allow them to cool and then peel them.
- Cut the potatoes into cubes or wedges and set them aside.
- In a bowl, mix together the yoghurt, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add the potato cubes to the marinade and toss until the potatoes are well coated.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F or preheat your tandoor as per its instructions.
- Skewer the marinated potatoes on metal skewers and brush them with oil.
- Place the skewers in the oven or tandoor and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are slightly charred and crispy on the outside.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with mint chutney or your favourite dip.
TIPS:
- You can also cook the potatoes on a grill or stove-top grill pan if you don't have an oven or tandoor.
- Adjust the amount of red chilli powder to your liking based on how spicy you want your Tandoori Aloo to be.
