Tasty and Spicy Tawa Chicken Recipe for Your Next Meal
Tawa chicken is a popular North Indian dish that is known for its spicy and flavorful taste. The dish is named after the tawa, which is a flat iron griddle used for cooking the chicken. Here is a simple recipe for making tawa chicken at home:
Ingredients:
- 500g chicken, boneless and cut into small pieces
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 green chilli, finely chopped
Instructions:
- Marinate the chicken with ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well and keep aside for 20-30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan or tawa on medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly browned.
- Remove the chicken from the pan and keep it aside.
- In the same pan, add chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and green chilli to the pan and cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
- Add the cooked chicken back to the pan and mix well with the onion-tomato mixture.
- Add fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice to the pan and mix well.
- Adjust the seasoning as per your taste.
- Serve hot with naan, roti or steamed rice.
